Massachusetts: In a new discovery that may shed some light on why people can’t resist their food cravings, a team of researchers at MIT have concluded that eating makes us feel less hungry, and hence a person who just had a meal is less likely to munch.
This new discovery is being considered path-breaking as it’s going to help our dining, food-processing and distribution industries reinvent their strategies.

In order to reach this conclusion, researchers conducted a survey among 2 groups of 50 people. Subjects in first group were given food every 4 hours while those in second group were kept hungry for 12 hours. Both these groups were put in separate rooms so that they don’t affect each other’s behavior. Both these rooms had pictures of mouth-watering dishes pasted on walls.
As time elapsed, first group didn’t show much inclination to look at those pictures, while people in the second group kept looking at them. Their saliva level was also measured, that, according to researchers was exorbitantly higher.
A team of psychologists also assessed behavior of these varying groups. While subjects in first groups were more or less peaceful and talked to each other, second group members were increasingly restless and didn’t talk to each other.
“We were relentlessly working on this project for 3 years. After this new discovery, our hard work has finally paid-off. From now onwards when people get hungry, they would know that it’s because they need food and hence would turn to eating something. It’s a boon for the mankind”, a jubilant member of this research team told Bluffallo.
“We’ll keep on doing this kind of research. Another research says- people love to read this kind of news…and 99% of people actually believe in anything that starts with – According to a research…“, the member further added.
This research was published in the Journal of Food and Psychological Behaviors.
